On UCSD's TAG page it says
"Both of the UC English courses and the UC math course must be completed by the end of Fall 2010, prior to Fall 2011 admission."

The problem is, I have yet to take my first English course in the Fall. I'm taking it this Fall! So according to what UCSD says, I have to take BOTH of the English composition classes by the end Fall? The second English course is already full, however on the IGETC form (#1. Area B. Critical Thinking-English Composition), there's a Philosophy class that can be substituted for this and that class isn't full yet. So I can make this happen.

ALSO on the UC Irvine site (not transferring there, but still) it states that you are not eligible for TAG if you have your first UC-transferable English composition course in fall 2010.

SERIOUSLY? WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Also, is it just me or is UC Davis's requirement much EASIER?
Here's what theirs says:

"You must complete the following UC eligibility requirements in English and math with grades of C or better:

two transferable college courses (3 semester or 4-5 quarter units) in English composition
one transferable college course (3 semester or 4-5 quarter units) in mathematical concepts or quantitative reasoning
You must also complete four transferable courses with grades of C or better from at least two of the following subject areas:

arts and humanities
social and behavioral sciences
physical and biological sciences"

i don’t think you can substitute that philosophy course for the english course for the TAG if thats what you were asking. as far as some schools having easier TAGS than others, yeah it sure does seem that way, but yeah sadly this is why you should take math/english early on. I’m not going to be able to TAG to UCI either because my first college math is this fall.

Uh after English 101, you have the choice between English 205 or Philosophy 205. That will satisfy your IGETC English requirement

@OP

I think English 101 is a prerequisite for English/Philosophy 205 and has to be taken first (I could be wrong, in that you can take them both the same semester)

Hmm… what is English 101?
The one I’m about to take is called English Composition (ENGL V01)
English V01 is a prereq for English V02 but NOT for the philosophy class… plus I already took intro to philosophy and philosophy V04 (logic) sooo if it does have prereqs I prolly took em.

you can finish it by the end of fall… i dont understand whats so hard to understand about that.

they make you complete it for 2 reasons:
you prove that you can follow a SET and GIVEN program, and adhere to academic standards. why did you wait? noone’s fault but your own. dont blame the UC’s for having a “stupid made up rule” when you knew it was in place from the beginning. thats like complaining that you cant use your hands in soccer.

they do not want to accept you for Fall of 20(next year) if you are currently enrolled in your english/math reqs because if you fail them or get D’s, you simply dont belong at a UC and they dont want to bother reviewing your application if you are a waste of time. also, say you were to get accepted AND hadnt fulfilled these reqs: if you got a D in one of them, they DONT want you filling up low GE math and english classes at their school… thats saved for freshmen.
