TAG/GPA question...

Alright so here I go.

I planned on doing the TAG agreement this Fall to get into UCSB by next fall, however a few things I didn't anticipate happened this semester and my grades kinda suffered from it.

Ended this semester with a 2.6, dropped from a 2.9 I was going to raise to get the TAG agreement. I ended up getting a D in a 5-unit course (teacher was terrible, everyone I took the class with has to re-take it) which dropped my GPA substantially, and sadly the A's I was going to get turned into Bs and Cs by the end of the semester.

My question is, is there even a way to raise my GPA by the end of this Fall to a 3.0 for the TAG without overloading myself on units? I know I'm definitely going to have to go for straight As, but as is I think I will have to get 4 As and the classes that I need are English, Math, and re-taking Biology...which I do not believe that I will get As in. And that's already 12 units right there...

Is my TAG pretty much impossible now?

To be TAG’d you have to have a 3.0gpa. Unless you can take a summer course but you can only take so much in the summer to raise it right? The only TAG you can probably qualify for is UCSD because for SD you need a 3.0 by the END of Fall. The rest of the tags you need a 3.0 when you write their TAGs. UCSD tag is not written either. You tag UCSD when you apply for the UCs in November. So yes from a 2.6 to a 3.0gpa with a summer course is pretty impossible depending on how many courses you have overall.

It’s been mentioned before in other threads, but an academic renewal might be something to look into. That is, if your school allows you to throw out individual classes and not the entire semester.
