TAG? or not?

I have a dilema. I'm a 29 year old mom who dreams of attending UCI. I have been working so hard at my community college so that I can apply to UCI next fall.
I have read about the TAG program and wished so much that I could take advantage of such a great offer, but my school ( Coastline Community College) has told me they are not a TAG participating college (and transferring to another CC isn't an option for me). Well, the other day while browsing through the TAG section in the UCI website I saw that Coastline is listed as a participating college. I was shocked, and so excited. I called my school's transfer center and they said they don't think so. I saw my counselor and she said they have never used TAG for any UC. I called UCI and they said if it's listed in the website then it is. I don't know who to believe. Does anyone know how I could find out the truth? I mean, wouldn't a college know it if such a great opportunity was available to it's students?
Thanks for any input!

If you have good grades, you don't really need TAG
it's not that hard to get into UCI

:P

I know, but still. Right now my GPA is 4.0, but I still have 2 semesters to go, and one never knows...A TAG contract would guarantee me admission with a GPA as low as 3.0.
I stress a lot and this would give me peace of mind.

I would print off a screen shot of the list of participating colleges and then walk into your ccc and speak w/ the transfer center supervisor or director. I try not to ever speak w/ them over the phone because those are usually front desk individuals, student assistants or screeners. As an older student myself, I know I used all available resources for my transfer.

Are you only thinking about UCI or are you applying to other UC's?There are several really good programs out there. Davis has an excellent transfer program and Berkeley has a really good family student housing program.

luvtoolearn, thank you for the advice. That is what I'm gonna do.
Btw, I chose UCI because it's practically in my backyard. I've lived in Irvine for 14 years; my husband works here and my kids attend school here; so moving to another city isn't practical. It's either UCI or Cal State Fullerton...I think I deserve UCI.

Good for you, mom! What are you planning to study? When I think of UCI's strengths, I think compsci, biology and related sciences, philosophy, history, art and music...actually they have a lot of strong departments. Best of luck to you.

Thanks A.S.A.P. I really like the Psychology and Social Behavior major. I also plan to get my master's and teaching credential from there. They have a combined program where you can get both at the same time in about a year.
