If you meet the listed requirements to receive a UC TAG (minimum GPA, at least 30 credit hours, 60 and IGETC completed by the spring prior to enrollment) but you won't have all the necessary prerequisites for a given major (physics sequence, o chem), will you still be accepted for the TAG?

Which school are you looking at? TAG, from my experience, guaranteed admission to the school, but not necessarily to your major/college. So, if you meet the school’s TAG requirements, it should be approved, but without the proper pre-reqs you probably won’t be approved for your major through TAG. (Don’t quote me on this though, different schools have different policies and such.)

With a 3.27 and 55 credit hours I’m comparing a TAG with UCD, UCSB, and UCSC. This fall I will take Chem 1 and Phys 1 and Chem 2 and Phys 2 in the spring. The science based majors I’m looking at require the full 3 sequences of Physics and also Organic Chem.

Does a TAG have a major attached to it? If so does that mean I will need to find a less science based major not requiring Ochem and Physics prereqs to have my TAG accepted? Or will the university let me complete these prereqs when I get there?

I was also curious about this specifically just for Davis and I thought you could only tag for one school

It depends on the school and major. Schools have specific websites that display this information for TAG applicants. Look for it

The tag requirements for uc davis biological science major seems very unclear to me whether or not you need o chem and physics done as a requirement for tag or if its just recommended.

It says strongly recommended, so you can graduate on time.

LExplorer, usually not all the courses are required for transfer. The articulation shown on assist.org shows transferable courses that are required OR recommended. The absolutely required ones for transfer are usually written in the first text paragraph of the articulation agreement, or they are shown separately, first showing the required ones, then the recommended ones. You must have all the required courses completed by the time you transfer, but you can be accepted missing the recommended ones. It just might take you longer to graduate, like @MikeyRawks said. Hope this helps!

I would email a TAG counselor at each school asking your specific question, as each university may have a different policy regarding entering a series without having taken the prerequisite courses at the same university.

Needless to say, I would still apply for TAG. The worst that can happen is it not being accepted.

Also- if you have more major pre-reqs to complete besides the science series, mayhaps you could spend an extra year at CC. If you have more than a quarter/semester’s worth of undergrad courses to simply enter your major, it might be more cost effective, and increase your chances of acceptance applying the following year.
