TAG rejects OR the scariest thread ever.

I am going to apply to UCSD, UCSC, UCI on winter. Tag. So, now i am trying to figure out my chances.
How many of you, guys, got rejected from any UC having TAG? What are you going to do? Do Uc's actually have a right to reject us? is it possible to appeal? is it possible to get your appeal rejected?

I'm extremely paranoid about it..

Judging from the UCSD thread, a lot of people did get rejected from SD with TAG.
As of now they’re trying to appeal their cases, but as a Fall '10 transfer this worries me too.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with their appeals.

Review the TAG agreement before you sign it. If it explicitly states that you’re guaranteed admittance if you maintain “x” standards, and they don’t accept you, they’d be in breach of contract.

^That’s is true, but there are a lot of people in UCSD thread saying that they got rejected from UCSD, although they had their TAGs done. that just freaks me out.

Probably just an oversight on UCSD’s part. Will probably get fixed come monday.

***?!i thought TAG is transfer admission GUARANTEE?!

^ What if they changed the A in TAG to mean “application”. As in, you’re guaranteed to be allowed to apply?

Haha.

It’s a been bad year for the UCSD admissions department.
First the freshmen email, now this. lol

wow, this is a scary thread

^^^ right. and G stands for “gentle rejection”

5 - i pray it is just an oversight, and they are going to fix it. Although, i do not think God exists

I got into UCSC through TAG with a 3.5. I’m sure I would have gotten in anyway, but it helps to know that you have an advantage.

Just don’t have the mindset that you will only get in because of your TAG. Get a decent gpa, finish your prereqs and IGETC and you’ll get in, period.

I agree with sstory, but I do think that what UCSD is doing is really out of line. It seems like they royally screwed up this year and I have to wonder if their reputation is going to take a hit because of it. It seems like they really need to do slap some sense into their admissions staff. It’s sad because it’s peoples’ futures that are getting f-ed with. Not cool.

I’m not too sure about the whole situation with people who had TAGs getting rejected this year, but I bet it would be safe to assume more than a few of them didn’t actually actually meet the requirements, such as having both transferrable english and math class finished by the fall you apply. I bet a lot of people thought it was simply have a 3.0 gpa, X units completed and click the TAG box on the application.

Good point, sstory.

It is messed up that UCSD rejected those with TAG. Even if they do fix their mistakes later (which I’m sure they will) how does this impact financial aid awards and whether people get into their first choice college (for example, the admissions woman on the phone made it sound as though John Muir was full) or not?

No offense but I don’t think that these schools are necessarily making mistakes when people get rejected. You gotta remember these schools are just fine with taking your money and are definitely trying to take as many people as feasibly possible. There is a better reason for most of these people getting rejected than oops, we didn’t notice you were as good of an applicant as you are, our bad.

Cooldude6, that is all fine and good but TAG is a guarantee. Also, while I don’t have TAG, two different admissions workers admitted there was a mistake with my application. I have a 3.95 gpa. While this probably isn’t typical, mistakes were made this year by UCSD.

Thanx a lot for your advices, guys, i really appreciate it.
