I'm trying to TAG to UCSD this year as a Biology major, however, I don't have all the lower division courses for my major done. (But I do have MOST)

I finished:
Chemistry

Working on:
Math 2
Biology 1, 2, 3
Organic Chemistry
(will finish before transfer)

Don't have:
Physics

My gpa is around 3.6-3.7 and I do have a few ECs. (Don't know if those matter)

Should I apply or should I just give up on UCSD and apply tag to somewhere else? (Like Davis or SB?)

“The Division of Biological Sciences expects transfer students to have
completed all of the lower-division course work required for their desired
biology major at the time of transfer.”

Therefore, I believe you must complete all of the prerequisites including Physics.

Ochem and Physics are not required, they are recommended. You don’t have to finish either before transferring. All the other classes, yes, you will have to have them done.
Check assist.org, this is all explained on the articulation agreement. I think you should still TAG to UCSD if that’s where you wanna go.

Our CC completely revamped their whole Biology series and screwed everyone over. However I will have Biology Chemistry and Organic chemistry along with Math (both semesters) completed by the end of spring.

@SBVett - Physics is not a recommended course, it’s required for the Biology, General major. There’s not even one recommended prerequisite - they are all required. You don’t have to take OChem at community college - I believe. You might want to check with a university rep on that.

@OtisLeo Biological sciences is not impacted. The college of engineering is.

@ocnative, I’m not sure if the rules have changed, but I know people who transferred to UCSD as bio majors this fall without finishing the physics sequence and some without even starting Ochem. I know this because I finished the physics sequence at my cc, and my friends that later got into UCSD only took the first semester of physics. On the UCSD admission thread here, other people also got in missing those classes. Maybe you mean physics is required for the major, just not necessarily for admission? Either way, I attend UCI, I was just sharing what I knew. Maybe the rules changed, I don’t know, but this is how it was until this last admission cycle…
