I am right now a sophomore in community college, just finishing up the year. By the end of this semester, I would have 58 UC transferable units. My question is, since I am 2 units short of fulfilling the 60 unit requirement, would I still be able to sign up for a TAG agreement to either UC Davis or UCSD next year?

I guess what I am trying to say is are TAG agreements available for junior level community college students, given that they fulfill all the GPA/major courses requirements?

Yes, you only need 30 units complete at the time you apply for a TAG agreement, though obviously you need 60 complete by the term prior to transfer.

Yeah, you can still TAG. Go to your counselor and ask for the TAG form for Davis. San Diego’s is online on the UC app when you apply, so just check it off there in November.

You can still TAG! My cousin got a TAG with Davis and she only had some 40 something units at the time of filling out the application and then her AP scores came in and all the classes…she was okay.

@Bulenight I have a 3.9 and I’m STILL pending for Davis, so don’t say that.

Well, right now I have a GPA of around 3.66, and I am majoring in econ. let’s say that I don’t do TAG. What are my chances of getting in next year to either Davis or SD? Consider that I will write a fairly impressive transfer app essay(s)?

Word of advice is don’t bet on the essay getting you in. Chances are the deciding factors for transfers will still be GPA and ECs. Even with a 4.0 one should still submit a TAG, because nothing is guaranteed.

Yes, it is true that Tag with school let ones step into a safe zone from rejection. However, i think UCSD Tag is sort of useless because unlike davis, they release the Tag decision a week before their decision come out. what i can say is work hard and Tag is not necessary.
