I'm definitely going to end up narrowing down the list to ~8-10 schools, but I'm just thinking about these schools right now.
I don't know if I'm missing anything, but I hope this is enough info. I'm not sure about my EC's, they don't seem that great :(

Chance me and I'll chance you back! :)

Pretty good GPA and SAT. I’d say you’re in at NYU, UMDCP, Carnegie and if you’re out of state you’re in at Berkeley and UCLA. The rest of them are toss-ups but you’re probably in at a few of them.

In at nyu, umdcp, and UCLA. Really good chance at Carnegie Mellon, the rest are all toss ups but you definitely have a shot at all of them.

Do you have an estimate of what percentile rank you fall in? (top 1%, 5%, etc)

I honestly have no idea… we’re a super-competitive school (something like 200th in the nation), but in the top quartile, I think… we also don’t have class rank (about 100 students in our program) and we send atleast 10-15 kids to Ivies yearly.

Your high school offers even more advanced classes than a community college, which is cool. You’ll want more ECs or awards (try Siemens) to have a great chance at the top colleges. But right now you’ll probably get into a good half of the schools on your list.

Yeah, I’m going to submit my project that I’m working on right now to both Intel and Siemens, and I also entered Exploravision last year (but didn’t get anything). I also want to start a club that helps raise money and equipment for the science department at our school (we have 3000 kids and not nearly enough money :frowning: )

Can someone help me categorize these (high reach, mid-reach, target, etc)?
I would appreciate it so so much
bumppp

high reach: hyp, stanford, mit, columbia, berkeley, caltech (just because they are for everybody!!)
mid reach: penn, duke, brown, cornell
target/ you’re probably in: ucla, carnegie mellon, umdcp, northwestern, nyu

your schedule looks really tough, so that should help!

May I ask which magnet school in Maryland?

I PM’d you- I kind of don’t want to put it on public (but you could probably figure it out if you were bored enough to xD)
It’s a really good/distinguished magnet school + public school combo in MD

Yea i heard, how MD combines all there school systems into one district :P

Anyways, keep up the good work! HYPMS - high reach for everyone… There is no such thing as guranteed. But I don’t think anyone should tell you to not apply because if you really love the school and you want to pursue your dream there. Then definitely apply… Don’t apply to like Yale because its top ranked… Apply there because you will love it there

My friend picked Scholarship in a school over Ivy because he felt that he will be treated better there and less stress. Your dad being an alumini also shows that he will try to make you study or (; idk want you to consistently. Don’t burn out yourself and make the most out of school.

Your course load seems very rigorous and your GPA/SAT are both great! HYPSM are all a crapshoot for everyone but I’d say you have a better shot than a lot of people. As other people have said, you’re in at UMD and NYU. Really good chances at CMU, Cornell, Berkeley, and UCLA. The rest can go either way.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1344337-chance-me-please-updated-stats-etc.html

Reasonable chance at Caltech and MIT for a female with your credentials. You will get into some of the others but frankly, all those classes are useless if you get in since you will need to start over anywhere you go and only some schools will give any credit, only for the APs.

Yes, I know I won’t get credit for most of my classes (except hopefully language/Calc), but I’m really interested in biology/epigenetics type stuff, so that’s why I’m taking a lot of bio-related classes this year. Also, I’m hoping since I’m taking college level classes, I’ll have an easier time adjusting in my first year or so.
Thanks everyone for chancing me! :)

I hope you go to MIT&Caltech  I’m hoping to go there too

If I got in, I would be ecstatic! I love the campus of MIT and also Columbia and Princeton and Yale… actually, if I got in somewhere good, I’d be so so soo happy xD

Reply to my mail?

Also, if it helps, my team won the regional competition for an environmental-science based competition (the state competition is in a couple of weeks!)

Your stats and ECs are really good, and most of those schools should accept you. Just make sure to get good letters of rec and write awesome essays. lol I’m jealous since your chances are definitely better than mine
