I would really appreciate if anyone could let me know what programs would be best for me (with my qualifications) to apply to and my chances of getting accepted into those institutions. Thanks in advance.

class rank is 3 out of.......?

and seriously...what programs do you LIKE? i dont mean to be unhelpful but my cousin got accepted into a few progs......at first he thought he was going to go to this one school just because of its name and prog.....after he visited his total mindset changed and he wished he had applied to the neighboring school's program...

investigate.....dont ask anonymous ppl on a board

Thanks for your reply. I'm 3 out of 35. NEOUCOM would be nice. However, because many of these programs are very highly selective, I am open to any programs which would select me based on my current qualifications. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Seeing how you're an Ohio res, you probably have an awesome shot...but keep in mind Desi people get screwed in the admissons process these days...esp with these programs

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. Would you recommend any other programs?

Can someone tell me if I have a chance at any of the seven year BS/MD programs and which ones? I don't know if my stats give me a fighting chance.

SAT: 2130 (CR:700 M:720 W:710) I'm retaking it next month, hoping to raise my M and W scores.
SATII: 1C:770 2C:800 Bio:680 Physics:730
My school didn't tell us our unweighted gpa, but it's 4.24 out of 4.33 if that helps. We don't know our rank either but I'm in the top decile, at least.

APs taken: World History(5), Physics(4), Language & Composition(3), Italian(3), US History(5)

APs this year: Bio, Calc BC, Gov. & Politics, Chem

Honor's Societies: Mu Alpha Theta(10-12), English(10), Science(11-12), I'll be in SS this year, Foreign Language(10-12), National Honors Society(11-12)

EC:
250+ hours at hospital (no shadowing though)
100+ hours at library
Piano since grade 2 or 3 (I could never remember)
- NYSSMA VI - 98/100
Kumon since grade 5
- completion of Math and Reading programs
Member of three school publications
School clubs: Italian Club(9-12), Community Service Club/Interact(9-12), Asian Cultural Society(9-12), Academic Team(11-12)
Work Exp: Kumon since 7/05

Any help would be really appreciated :)

state, gender, ethnicity, officer positions?

State: NY
Gender: Female (does that really matter?)
Ethnicity: Indian (born and raised in US though)
And the positions I hold in the publications aren't big enough to be worth mentioning in the resume.

Do the accelerated programs put a lot of emphasis on the ACT and etc.? I am a hard worker, but not a very good test takes. I am 29 out of 595. I think that's like Top 5%. I'm involved in many things as possible and take challenging courses as much as I can. But my ACT is really bad. I got a 25.

I recently took the ACT this month and have no idea how I did. I don't want to think I'm right only to find out I'm wrong. Do you know what I mean? You'll feel like you answered all the answers right, a 10 out of a 10, but in the end, you get like...3 ouf of a 10.

Maybe, it's just me. I don't know. The only thing I consider negative in my application is my ACT score. Of course, I haven't done anything awesome like curing AIDS or whatever, but I have volunteered at the hospital for over 300 hours. :)

I have taken the SAT, but I'm more comfortable with the ACT. What do you think? Should I even dream of getting accepted? Or should I just try to do it the normal way?

I'm more interested in UMKC than Northwestern (I already know I don't have a chance with NW.) Since I am out-of-state, the requirement for the ACT is 28. Do you think I should retake the ACT in October? Should I even apply with my low score and high rank (It's not that high, but it is somewhat high)?

Thanks for your help. :)

Information about the Honor Scholars Medical Program at Florida State is available here: http://www.med.fsu.edu/

Visali- of course you should apply. Don't doubt yourself. There are still many other factors that determine acceptance probability.

parent2noles- thanks a lot for the site!!

I was thinking of applying to:
Drexel
Penn State
Union
College of NJ
Rutgers

Do any of these seem to be within my reach?

sterlingsilver16- I think you have a good chance of getting to the interviews but then from there, it'll depend on how you conduct yourself. And being an Indian female is better than an Indian male when applying to these programs...

Drexel-maybe
Penn State-REACH REACH
Union-maybe
College of NJ-probably
Rutgers-maybe/probably

"And being an Indian female is better than an Indian male when applying to these programs..."

Wrong. Female admissions were so high in previous years compared to males that it's actually a disadvt.
