Take a look at my credentials & tell which film programs would be good for me, please

I know I wrote a lot, but it's because I wanted to be as specific as possible so I could get the best response from you guys. I could use some serious advice on WHAT I could do to improve my chances at some good schools, and WHAT schools would be good, and IF the ones I'm thinking of fit. Please help.

I plan on applying to 5 colleges/universities for the Fall of 2010. Here's my record:

-I'm 18 years old. I graduated from Joseph Case High School in Swansea, Massachusetts #52/130 with a 2.59 GPA. I'm actually extremely intelligent, it's just I suffered through a tragedy (both my parents passed away at the begining of my Freshmen year), so my grades my first year and a half were really not where they should have been.

-My SAT's are approx. 590 (eng), 570 (mth), & 580 (wrt), but I do plan on retaking the SAT in November; I've been studying a lot and really feel like I can increase my overall score from 1,740 to 1,890 (approx.)

-I attended Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts this year (first year). I got into a couple of schools coming out of high school, but I decided it would be better to get my grades way up at a Community College and transfer to a good school rather than settle and commit myself and my money to a 4-year college I didn't truly want to go to. From talking to my 1st-semester teachers, they say there's no reason why I shouldn't get all A's, so it's looking like my GPA for this year will be a 3.7+ (hopefully a 4.0!), which would surely mean I'll be on the Deans List. Right now I do have a 4.0.

-I've got some good EC's. I played varsity basketball & football for 3 years in high school. I did theatre (with awards) for 3 years in high school. I've been apart of a theatre company for 2 years called Caron Productions, which I'm still apart of. I participate in the BCC (my college) Theatre Rep. company now as well. I work a job at Sears. I was on the staff at my high school newspaper for 3 years, plus the editor for 1. I'm going to be starting writing for my current college's newspaper ASAP as well. I've done volunteer work at the Swansea Public Library, Animal Advocates, Pet Partners, + I'm going to be doing some more volunteer work this year.

-I'm a really creative person. I haven't exactly nailed my essay topic, but I plan on talking about my growth from high school to college, but taking a unique twist on it. I've made a few short films on my own. I've directed and written a play that was put on at my high school senior year. I plan on making 1 or 2 short films to send to schools that I plan on applying to. I was thinking about maybe doing a modern day short of Alice and Wonderland as one.

-I've got some nice LOR. 1. A well-respected theatre director/Emerson College alumni. He's won numerous awards. Very close to him. 2. A Rhode Island State-Sentator, who I'm very close with. 3. My current advisor/teacher of 2 classes. Getting close to him. Former teacher @ Emerson. Plus, I plan on getting a couple of more. (my work boss perhaps, volunteer heads? I'm not sure)

Now, here's why I just ranted and ranted. I want you guys to recommend me some schools that you think would be a good fit to me, but wouldn't be totally impossible for me to get into. I plan on majoring in the Film field, so the school must have a film program (hence why I'm asking you guys for advice!)

-Emerson College*
-Massachusetts College of Art and Design (?)
-University of Vermont (?)
-Boston University (?)

Oh, and by the way, I need to stay within New England, so thats kind of a big thing. New York would be acceptable, though.

So, what my four big questions are: Out of the schools that I listed, do I have a decent chance at any of those? Which would be other schools that might be good fits for me? and Any advice for me?! Are there any extra curriculars that I can get involved into that will help my chances?

Thank you guys so, so much in advance.
