Hey everyone,

I am an econ with chem minor and i plan on applying to med school, right now my overall GPA is like 3.7 but my science is only 3.4, I am currently in organic 1 it seems as if there is a good chance i might end up with a C in the class if i don't do good on my final 2 exams (right now i have a 72%), i was wondering if i was to withdraw and get a "W" would that look worse then a potential C? The reason i ask, is because since i am not a Bio or regular science major i wont have many sciences to bump up my science GPA. Thanks

If you take the W, you'll have to retake the class. Unless you have good reason to think you're going to do a lot better the second time around, it might not make sense to withdraw.

im pretty confident that I will be able to get an A the next time i take organic, because i just made silly mistakes on my exams and if an exam is only 5 problems making 1-2 mistakes is a lot. I was also planning on taking the MCATS in summer but if i withdraw that means ill have to take Orgo 2 while im taking the MCATS, do you think that will hurt me? I heard the MCAT had a lot more general chem then orgo....

It is true that organic chemistry doesn't show up particularly heavily on the MCAT. On the other hand, it's also true that the parts which DO show up are mostly from the end of organic (carboxylic acid reactions.)
