Take ACT or not?

Hi,

I'm currently doing a gap year and am planning to apply to some top-25 schools when I will be 20-21 years old. The schools that I'm interested in tell me that in my case the SAT/ACT is not required, but that they would look at it if I submit a score.

Should I take the SAT/ACT now to supply an additional factor for admission? This test seems easy and I'm aiming for 31-35. They will be comparing me mostly with slightly younger applicants who are all with SAT/ACT scores, and I feel like I would be at a disadvantage if I don't send in my scores.

There is no disadvantage to taking it other than the cost and your time. If you score well, use it. If not, don't.

the ACT isn't all that hard, I found it much easier without the SAT w/o studying. Of course, I was taking Precal and Trig when I took it, so you may want to brush up on that for the math. If nothing else, I'd practice the Science sections a couple of times.
