Take an F or withdraw?

I am in my first year in College and I am feeling my Computer Science Java class, my major ATM is CS, but I will be changing it, should I just take the F and retake it next year, or Withdraw, I don't know if this matters, but Im currently taking 3 classes, My grades in the other two classes will most likely end up being a C and B, any advice...? thanks.

I would recommend withdrawing. First off you won’t have a F on your transcript looming there forever. It’s easier to explain a Incomplete or something instead of an F and usually they don’t need an explanation for an F. Second, you will most likely take the course anyways next year so just don’t suffer through the class and do something else instead. Third, the F will actually hurt your GPA a lot and it’s hard to recover from such a blow to your GPA it’s easy to drop but so hard to increase. If it were me I’d rather withdraw and not let this one class hurt me so much than take the F. Good luck either way though!
