Take AP English?

How does Duke handle the AP English credit, or for that matter, AP credits in general? Are they core, or just elective? I probably can only get a 4 at the max on AP English, so I don't know if I should take it or not.

You can get "credit" for the AP, in the sense that it will count towards graduation. I dont know if you're hoping to be Pratt or Trinity, but for Trinity, a maximum of 2 AP credits can count towards the required number of credits to graduate (this is to keep students from being able to skip an entire semester or more). However, there is no real prerequisite English class that a good score on the AP will let you "place out" of - unlike Bio or Chem, where a good score can let you place out of certain introductory pre-requisite classes, there's nothing like that for English. But if graduation credit is what you're looking for, a 4 or 5 will let you get it.

I agree with bandcampgirl, I was considering taking AP english, but because I already have 5s on more than 2 APs and because AP english really doesn't seem to be any prereq, there was really no point in taking it.

This page should be helpful:

So... say I have 4's or 5's inAP Euro, AP US history, AP Bio, and AP Chem already. So is there any point in me taking AP Macroecon or AP English?
