Take BC Calculus after AB?

I'm taking calculus AB right now. I'm doing great (MOSTLY over 95% on quizzes/tests)... My mom wants me to take BC calc next year... How hard is BC calc if you've taken AB calc or is it just a repeat of everything?

If your school is like mine (AB is a prerequisite of BC), BC goes straight into the BC material and spends the rest of the semester (ours is yearlong) reviewing AB and BC material.

It shouldn't be too hard, most of the people in there complain about it but the ones I know personally are hard workers and they're doing fine (A's). Then again it depends on your school/teacher.

no... Kids choose between AB or BC calc senior year. Its just that I'm ahead in math one year and I can take BC calc after AB calc

I recommend taking BC. I took AB last year, and now I'm taking BC this year. This provides a few significant advantages. You are not only adding another AP under your belt, but it will also prepare you quite well for college level calculus. It never hurts to have an additional year of calculus - it will only strengthen your calc skills.

how hard is it? Is is EASY after AB since most high school teach AB in one semester and the rest to make up BC in the second semester, i.e,, they teach AB-BC in one year, not two.

Very simple with regards to course content:

AP Calculus BC = Both Calculus I and II
AP Calculus AB = Calculus I Only

Thus, no point in taking AB then BC. BC is worth twice the amount of credits AB is, by the way.

at my school AB and BC are separate years, and you HAVE to take AB to get to BC.. but I think it's helpful taking AB (at least at my school) first because I am so lost even now in BC, hahah

^If thats your school schedule, you only have 2 years to fit in geometry, algebra II, and precalc?

took a2 freshman year, geometry in the summer, precalc soph.. but I know a lot of people who had geometry credit before hs and took a2 freshman year, precalc in the summer, ab in soph year..

and there's a sophomore in my bc class. ): I can't even figure out how it happened.

I don't understand how some schools require you to take AB first. At my school, the prerequisite for both Calc AB and Calc BC is precalculus (for BC, "B" or better). You do not take AB first as BC covers AB material.

PS: Check out the Calc BC syllabus at the Collegeboard website if you don't believe me.
