Take Calculus at Comm. College for AP Exam?

<p>Well I was going to take AP Calc AB next year, but I've heard nothing but bad things about the teacher at my high school.</p>

<p>So anyway, nothing will change my mind about taking her course, but one option I've thought of is taking 1st semester Calculus at a community college and then take the AP test.</p>

<p>My questions...</p>

<p>Will I be ready for this class after just completing Precal this year?
Is there even a reason to take the AP exam if I'm taking the college class??</p>

<p>You should take two semesters of calc, regardless of where you take them, in order to have a chance to do well on the AP test. The AB test covers calc 1 + some calc 2 stuff (I like to call AB "Calc 1.5"). The BC test covers all materials up to Calc 2.</p>

<p>And yes, you can take calc with one semester of precalc. I took AB this year after like... little to none precalc.</p>

<p>You will most likely not recieve college credit for a class taken at a cc if you go to an out of state college, so taking the AP will allow you to earn college credit in case you go to a college that doesn't accept credits from the cc.</p>

<p>only problem is that CC classes are very weak...
and might not prepare you for exam..</p>

<p>if ur good at math, just independent study it...
then take MV Calc at closest decent college nearby</p>
