Take extra college course to fulfill foreign language reqs and lose class rank?

Last year, I was class rank 2 then I got bumped to 1 because the student with the higher class rank took a course at a community college, which brought her overall GPA down.

Stanford's college requirement needs 3 or more years of foreign language, but due to scheduling conflicts at school, I could only fit in 3. Will this hurt my chances?
"...while admission officials may be sympathetic to your problem to some extent, they have probably also encountered candidates who, like you, were unable to study language at school but took the initiative to seek out classes in the evening, over the summer, etc. The more selective the colleges on your list, the more likely it is that you will be competing with candidates who have gone that extra mile."

I don't want to take any extra courses/an extra foreign language year because I'm worried that my class rank will go down. Should I do it?
