Hi! I'm a freshman taking Alg II/Trig H.
My school offers the option to skip Pre-Calc and AB. I'm interested in skipping PC, but I'm unsure about AB. I'm okay with putting in the work this summer for the stuff I'll be skipping if needed; I like math. I'm doing decent in my maths class with a 97. I haven't had much time to devote to it since my English teacher is kind of crazy.
I don't want to take AB if in BC we cover the same topics again anyway. I have heard conflicting information on whether this is true or not-- on the internet. My counselor wasn't helpful, and I have only one source confirming that it's true.
I just wonder if this is too big of a leap. I know people who usually skip AB have taken PC. What was your experience in Calc?
If I were to take BC, I would just be taking it alongside AP Humanities and Physics B.

Taking AB before BC is manageable. I wish I would have done that instead of taking both, but I am quite good at math and will self study linear algebra before my freshman year in college. Not too sure if I will major in it though. With that said, it Pre-calc does help you tremendously in preparing you with calc, not the actual calc, but the algebra and knowledge needed for calc, especially the trig functions. I would not go into BC without taking Pre-calc. If that’s what you want, this summer, you will have to self study pre-calc and get a firm grasp on the subjects.

thanks doc!
