Basically, I've already taken a bunch of sat iis and have been debating taking the Chinese one. I have a Chinese last name but I didn't grow up speaking the the language. Basically started learning it in high school. But colleges won't know that, right?
And so I'll probably be like 40th percentile with a 700ish score.
I'm only considering taking it because a ba/md program I want to apply to recommends taking a language sat ii. And since I don't know any other languages....: ( Advice? Would it look bad if I didn't take a language test?

What other SAT II's did you take, and what did you score? If they are varied and extremely good, you might be able to get by without the recommended language test.

Still, something in the 700+ range is quite good...remember that most people taking the Chinese SAT II are really top notch Chinese language students, so ending up in the 40th percentile there isn't bad at all...

dont take chinese if you are not fluent. the average score is 767 for chinese.

I took: chem 740 us history 750 mathii 800 and a few others i can't remember right now.
Yeah, the average score scares me. Esp since I am partially Chinese...

Hi, I am a chinese. Is it not advisable for me to take Chinese with Listening since it is my native language?
Thank you.

If you are chinese and you don't get an 800, it'll give off something you don't want.

Koh, I'm pretty sure colleges frown on students taking the Subject Test in their native language [although that doesn't stop lots of kids from doing it].
