Take SAT II in May or June?

Whens the better time to take subjects test for me, May or June?

I'm currently a junior and want to take subject tests in Physics, Math II, and Lit. But I don't know whether I should take them in May or June because for all those subject tests I'm currently in an AP class (Calc AB, Physics C, and English Language) and my finals are right next to the subject test date in May. But then again I feel I might need for prep which I could use right after the AP tests because after the AP tests my classes don't really do anything anymore, but I'm also afraid I might slack off haha.

So when should I take them?

take in May, you can study for subject tests and aps at the same time.

it worked out pretty well for me. =D

I am a junior and in a similar situation. I asked a bit and it concluded that it would be best to take them in May.

DO NOT take three in one sitting unless you are some rare test savant.
Spread them across the two dates. you guys get score choice but how many Saturdays do you want to repeat them...and you need those SAT dates to do the Real SATs also..spread SATIIs out. In some cases, you should be at the testing center taking one little test or another every testing date till time to apply to college. Buy the review SATII books because they do not correlate exactly and your high SATII scores can only help you. Remember they are subsets of kids taking these tests..for instance..the Math Level II is mainly people going to major in science or engineering and a 700 on that exam is only in the 60th percentile. Don't skip the review books. They are short and sweet just like the one hour tests and easier by far to prep for than APs but don't assume they overlap totally.

^
Good opinion, I'll consider.

if you "tire" and can tell that you didn't do a good job on one test that day, you can cancel your score. However..you have to cancel all three of them!!! not good.
Now that you guys have score choice..though..I suppose this is a different deal...you can blow a test when you are tired or unprepared and take it again..but keep in mind the SAT dates start to go by quickly...you get VERY busy as a senior and junior

I like taking it in June because it gets pretty stressing around AP exam time an the last thing I need is waking up early Sat morning to take 2-3 Subject Tests..

It's nice taking it June because if you feel like you didn't review enough for the AP exam..then you have a lot of time to review the areas you weren't really confident in since your classes will probably get a lot easier after AP exams are done (like we just watch movies and play cards..with the occasional "project").

I took the US History AP exam and then the SAT II history..and I'm REALLY glad I got those extra couple of weeks to cram more info

Wouldn't recommend taking more than 2 on one test day either...it gets super tiring (I was exhausted taking 2)

I'd say June just because you should study differently for SAT IIs and APs because the format, if not the material itself, is different. However, if you'd rather take all your tests in one week rather than spreading them out, do that. It's more a matter of focus; if you won't lose focus in late May, take them in June.

lol the first couple of posts said may and then the last couple of posts said june

I guess it depends on you really--

but I'm planning on taking the SAT IIs in June,
because I'm taking 4 AP tests this year & will have more time
afterwards from May-ish to June to study, and just plain breathe=P

HighlandDaughter plans to take some on both dates :) As Faline stated HD feels taking 3 in a day would be mental suicide. She'll take two one date, and one on the other - still hasn't decided :)

do not take three in one sitting do not take three in one sitting

Take one in May..you have time to prep with a Real SATII book for one subject test after your APs. take my word for this. You also can take these little SATIIs fall of senior year if you are done with the big ones..you all have score choice..but how many Saturdays do you want to do this. Make the dates you show for the tests the only time you have to do it...prepare, spread them out and be done with them.

Does it make sense for my dear D in sophomore to take US history in June as she is taking AP anyway?

Yes...she should take US History...the overlap is decent but she should study the actual SATII book...get those in as they sometimes sell out locally if you wait. She will have score choice and can send in her top two scores...many schools want a math as well......US Hist can be a hard test...so don't underestimate the prep...it varies from AP a bit.

She DEFINITELY should take the US History one. I took it after taking AP as a sophomore and I'm sooo thankful I did. I know some people who weren't aware of SUbject Tests and are now trying to review all of US History so they can take it this year...but it's taking a while for them to remember all the terms and info again, especially with everything else going on.

Totally June for me because I do not want them to affect my AP schedule. =)
