I am going to be a first year at a different school this year. I know that, for in-state residents, UVA's summer courses are priced insanely cheap. I might like to go room with a friend next summer and take a course or two. has anyone here done this or know if it's fairly common?

What is the difference between PHYS 1425/2415 (general physics for engineers) and 2010/2020 (principles of physics)?

It’s ok to take summer classes at UVa even if you’re from another school. Just make sure you get in your application materials on time.

Physics for Engineers is Calc Based while Principle of Physics is algebra based.

A lot of kids from other schools come to C-ville for the summer.
Before you sign up for courses, check with your advisor at your regular school to find out how to transfer the credits. This is generally not difficult but you may need to supply specific information and fill out a few forms. For instance, UVA students must submit the syllabus of any course they take at another institution to the director of studies in the appropriate department; the department then certifies that the course is academically equivalent to something offered at UVA. Credit can be denied if the course seems insufficiently rigorous.

I just took two UVA summer classes, and I can tell you that they are NOT cheap. If you want summer classes you should take them at a community college.

(yes, I’m in state)
