Hi all,
So I want to study chemical engineering in college. I’m a junior right now. I’ve took AP Bio(4), SAT Bio(720), SAT MAth 2( 720). This year I will study for AP BIo again to get a five, and take AP Calc AB, Physics C: Mechanics, Chemsitry. And I want to complete the 5 AP requirements of UK in my junior year. Since I’ll study engineering, I thought I can do AP Physics 1&2. I want to take SAT physics subject test anyway. So I think it would be easier If I study for the AP Exam. But I’m not sure about the workload. Junior year is hard enough and I’ll have to have a tutor or work really really hard for this exam. What do you think about it? Can I manage 3 AP Physics exams in one year? If you’ve taken these exams please let me know…
Thanks,
UK Schools will not count 3 AP exams in single subject as 3 scores.
Most UK unis are happy with 3 APs, so if you are looking at 5 you are probably looking at Cambridge and/or Imperial.
Are you taking Calc BC next year? you will need it for most ChemE courses (definitely for Cambridge or Imperial) and any offer you get will be conditional on your score. If Cambridge, be aware that they also have a pre-admissions test (in Engineering or NatSci, depending on which you apply through).
Sitting Physics 1,2 & C + Chem and the rest of your course load in the same year is a pretty heavy lift. If I were you I would focus on your Chem for this year: physics is strongly recommended but Chem is required. As you will have a conditional offer anyway, do Physics next year.
