Taking 2 APs and other weighted classes for senior year?

I’m an international student(Korean) studying in US high school and I’m turning senior this year. Since I started school here in US from the second semester of my sophomore year, there have been so many mandatory classes that I needed to take for graduation and I couldn’t have any options for any weighted classes. Now that I’m turning to senior and getting to have some space for them, I’m thinking about taking 2 AP classes and maybe like 1 or 2 other weighted classes. But I’ve kinda heard that colleges don’t really care about your senior year but your sophomore + junior year… I’ve been getting 4.0 + of gpa for all the classes, but I’m worried if my big challenge for senior year would not even mean anything. Do the top colleges in US only care about your sophomore and junior years?

They’ll certainly care about the rigor of your senior year course load. Also, taking more challenging classes senior year is a good way to prepare for college, which is much harder than high school. Good luck!

You kinda heard wrong. While your year-end senior year grades won’t play into the admissions decision, your choice of courses will. Colleges like you to take the most challenging courses that you can handle. And while your senior grades may not impact the admissions decision, you can’t coast. As your final transcript is required, your admissions offer is predicated upon not having a sharp decline in senior grades.
