AP World History
AP Art History
AP European History
I chose these APs because they fit what portion of subjects I enjoy and can grab the
easiest; history. I have heard that these classes are content heavy, but I
REALLY need some tips (buy prep books along with textbooks, watch youtube)
to understand what I’m working with. For those who notice, US History isn’t
on the list. That’s because my school only allows juniors to take the class.
Please reply with tips on how to survive the classes!
Taking APWH and APEH at the same time will be time consuming and undoubtedly will have major assessments occur at the same time. But if you and you counselor think you can handle it, be my guest.
AP Art History, if you have some background and interest, is a breeze IMO, although the individual teacher can make the class workload intensive. Assuming you have a decent textbook, Annotated Mona Lisa is ideal for review. The class and the test is changing for this year, and since I took it last year, I don’t know all the changes other than the focus is only on 250 works of art instead of 500+.
AP World and Euro can be overwhelming together. I’ve only taken AP World, but if you find it easy to grab, do it.
I’m not sure about euro or art history, but ap world was really focused on essay writing.
The test is 70 multiple choice in 55 minutes and 3 essays in two hours. Make sure your essay skills are solid: you really need technique and skill. Otherwise, the class is mainly memorization of key themes and ideas in history. The specifics are important - the people, events, systems- they will occur on the AP test. However, if you can understand the themes of each time period in history, it’ll be a breeze
Don’t take AP World and Euro together. If you take them together chances are you’re not going to do well in both of them (I don’t know about AP art so…) Maybe take APUSH and take AP world next year. By doing so you can have a lot of background info. AP World has a REALLY broad view and its really hard to cram that all in.
And don’t worry about taking too much APs I think 3 is ok I’m taking AP Chinese, USH, human Geo, Psycho all self studying because I can’t take any of these classes being a sophomore (I’m only allowed in my Junior year…haha) So I’m guessing if you really want to you can probably do all three… but… you’re probably not going to do well in any of them… so perhaps you should think through it before making any decisions=)
