I’m a CCC student and I plan on taking Calc 3 in the summer as P/NP. I’m applying for Fall 2020 to UCSC (TAG, Cognitive Science), UCSD (Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience), UCI (Psychology), and UCR (Psychology).
I was told if I get accepted to UCSD, I could complete the calc sequence at my college before I’m enrolled or at UCSD after I’m enrolled as long as I start the sequence (I’m currently in Calc 1).
My Question: Since the calc 3 course in the summer ends in August, would I still get credit for it?
are you taking about Calc 3 as a quarter course or semester course? I would look at the articulation in assist.org first.
Assuming that you do not need the summer course to meet the 60 semester units or other admission requirements…
Yes, check articulation.
But also, if it is required for your major, you probably have to take it for a grade, not P/NP.
It says any lower-division course can be taken for P/NP and so far, that’s the only course I would take as P/NP.
I looked at the articulation, it’s the same course.
Usually major courses need a letter grade. I would suggest Calc 3 be for a letter grade but if it’s next summer the best approach is to just ask the UC after you SIR if you can take it P/NP. You don’t have to decide now. You can also put it into the application, then after acceptance ask if you can drop it and not enroll.
And yes, you will get credit.
