In high school, I received a 3 on the AP English test (I kept falling asleep, couldn't finish all my essays in time) and then went to community college A where they allowed me to take English 1B because I had a 3 on the AP Exam. At the same community college, I also took the last required course in the English sequence (equivalent to the second half of the composition requirement for UC). However, at community college B, they told me that I shouldn't have been allowed by community college A to enroll in English 1B or the next level english and they made me take a lower level english class that satisfies the first portion of the writing requirement for UC. Between my AP Score and completing higher level coursework, was it really necessary to take the class that community college B forced me to? Doesn't higher level course work take precedence over lower?

Any thoughts?
