Taking a class over summer at CC and taking it again after at UCLA for grade?

I am planning to take Math 32B over summer at a local CC and take it again at UCLA next fall for a grade. Is that allowed?

I suggest you just audit the class at the CC (eg no units awarded). If you get unit credit for it then I don’t think UCLA will count it when you take it again because you will have unit credit for that course. You should call a counselor at ucla to find out for sure.

Just take the class and then don’t forward the transcripts (ie, don’t let UCLA know).
Or just sit in there and “audit it”. If they don’t take attendence or anything, just sit there, free college!

Not really a good idea. UCLA requires you to tell them of all colleges you have attended, including during HS and summer sessions. And if you apply for grad school you will be required to disclose this info once again. For freshman UCLA says

Presumably by “better course choices” they mean things like not taking classes you are not allowed to get credit for ;)

It would be a shame to not be allowed to graduate (or have your diploma revoked) because you didn’t earn enough units in your major to graduate, which probably will happen if UCLA finds out about that summer class and says it won’t count the units you got for taking it again at UCLA. And its not hard for them to find out; there is a company called the National Student Clearinghouse that tracks enrollment. UCLA is a member, as are the CA community colleges. All they have to do is check, perhaps as part of your graduation check end of senior year, and they’ll find out you attended a college they don’t have a transcript for. Or you apply for grad school, those places check what colleges you’ve attended, and ask UCLA why the notation isn’t on your UCLA transcripts.

Just audit the class. Assuming there are enough chairs in the room, it really means nothing to the professor. They might not want you taking the tests, but tests probably aren’t where most learning happens, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.

You could sit in on classes this quarter too, if your schedule allows.
