taking a fifth year?

hey everybody. i'm not really gonna share most of my stats, but basically, i have a 4.25 W GPA, got a 36 on my ACT and a 2380 on my SAT, and i'm very involved. however, there are two things holding me back. one is that my freshman year was god-awful, and the second is that, since i'm a year younger due to reckless grade skipping, playing collegiate baseball at the D1 level will be tough. does anyone have experience with fifth year senior programs?

you mean a PG (post-graduate) Year ?

yes, a PG. idk, it’s been called a fifth-year senior program at Lake Forest Academy, which is one of my first choices if I go. I got a 98% on the SSAT in 8th if that helps…

not really they will ask for your SATs, if you are serious about baseball and have the necessary grades/SATs you might consider IMG down in florida they are bound to be a 1000% more connected then the coach at Lake Forest Academy (never hear of the school) but I am assuming its on the north shore of chicago

^ you assumed right :)

And I agree with what Hcos said. It would be much more beneficial for you to go to a school where the baseball coach is connected

I’ve heard about IMG; an old girlfriend’s best friend goes there for tennis. is it really that serious?

Yes. IMG is most serious about the sport of your choice. I have visited its campus. The sport facilities and staff are wonderful. The academics are not. If you wish to play sports in college, IMG will hone your skills. If you hope to be a scholar, IMG is a waste of money.

but you see he already is a scholar, doing a PG year for Baseball at a NEPSAC is not the same as doing it for LAX or Basketball, where the northeast turns out for lax some of the best players in the nation and good players for Basketball, but correct me if im wrong but new england is not particularly strong baseball, down south is where the majority of good baseball is

Right: the South plays big time football and baseball, and the North plays big time lacrosse and hockey. So, if school, not baseball, is your main cup of tea, a BS in NE is for you. If you are looking for BS’s in NE with solid baseball programs, Avon Old Farms and Salisbury (both all boys schools) seem to be pretty good these days, and Taft seems to be getting stronger. Deerfield was down this year but usually fields a fine squad. I’m sure that there are some other good BS baseball programs in NE, I’m just familiar with these schools these days. (Note: My son currently plays baseball at Hotchkiss.)

Probably the best in NE:

[Salisbury School - Athletics, Athletics / Baseball - Varsity](http://www.salisburyschool.org/home/content.asp?id=35&zzsec=athletics&pointID=240&zzSec=athletics&mid=236&msection=)

I always thought Cushing had a strong baseball program (for New England).
