I'll be taking a gap year; both due to no acceptances and personal reasons. I have something very meaningful to do during this year; something I couldn't do earlier due to lack of time. Does reapplying to the same colleges? Do they re read your previous files? This time I made some common rookie mistakes, but this time I'll be more articulate and apply to 2 safeties.
So, does reapplying to rejected schools impact negatively on the admissions.
FWIW, I'm an international with aid required.

I would make a new college list. But I do know someone who reapplied. However they spent a year at university in their country doing their best work. Got into one. But I guess one was all it took.

I would not advise enrolling at a university in your home country if you plan to apply to the US. Indeed you wouldn’t be able to apply as a freshman and thus wouldn’t be eligible for FA.

I wouldn’t apply to the same schools unless you do something in the next year that drastically changes your application. Look for new schools where you’d have a better chance of getting accepted and getting the aid you need. Look at schools in your home country as well.

Thank you all. I do have some unique things to do this year. I actually made some really bad mistakes. I highlighted the less important EC’s and my essays were super cliched and basically a lot of other mistakes in CSS profile too. As you can see, I screwed up real good. Do you think it’s worthwhile for me to apply again, @happy1 and @BrownParent? I’ll, of course, revamp my college list but I’m thinking to apply to the same schools again. Do you think it’s advisable in my particular case (seeing the stupid mistakes I made)?
@MYOS1634: Yup, I’ll not enroll in my home country.
Again, thank you!

Just as a general observation, those that reapply to the same schools that denied them do not seem to do so well. I think if you truly feel this is important, do so. But look for some less selective schools as well. That is the mistake many internationals students with need make. They don’t get how competitive the process is with financial need in the picture, and that some school where they are heads and shoulder above other students is where they need to apply to have a better chance at some hits. The rest are truly lottery tickets.

Thank you @cptofthehouse. I was fully aware of my low chances and I have Indian safeties for this year too, but I don’t want to attend them. So, I’ll reapply.
@T26E4, I’m seeking your help too :)

I think people on this thread have almost uniformly said that re-applications to colleges you were denied at generally don’t work out well. If you want to try to reapply to one or two schools that is fine, but in general I’d come up with a whole new list.
