Taking a gap year to study abroad before college

I’m junior in high school and going to be a senior in this upcoming school year. I have 3.598 GPA and 24 on the act. I’m a Varsity football player and a varsity track runner. I am also captain on the varsity track team. I’m wondering what are my chances of getting into Texas a&m out of state? And if taking a gap year to study, become a exchange student, would improve my chances?
