I'm taking a lot of AP classes next year, which might raise my gpa somewhat. but then again, I might not do too well in them, although I think that I will. Should I apply EA, or should I wait for the first semester's grades and apply RA?

There's really no disadvantage to applying early -- if you apply early and are accepted, life is good, no problems; if you're accepted early and deferred, you can send in your first semester grade report.

decide for yourself. MIT doesn't give advantage for RA really though.

If you apply ED/EA and get deffered, impressive mid year grades can be a deciding factor as to your admissions fate. You should strive to do your best in your classes no matter what decision plan you chose. It is never safe to bank on being accepted and not having to show grades because it may come back to bite you in the behind...
