Taking a prep course before O Chem?

I already completed my freshman yr in college and took two semesters of biology. My course schedules for the next two yrs look like this:

Sophomore yr:
Chemistry 101 & 102w/labs
Physics 101 & 102 w/labs
Pre-Cal & Cal I
Four humanities courses

Junior yr:
Organic Chem. 1 & 2 w/labs
Cell Bio w/lab & Genetics
Core courses

Question: Is this a good plan? I want to take a MCAT prep course during the summer after my sophomore yr because I don't think I would have any time to take it during the school year. But the concern I have is that I would not have taken Organic Chemistry yet. Is that okay, or am I supposed to have completed all my prerequisites before taking a prep course?

I heard that students are supposed to take the MCAT at the end of their junior years in order to apply during their senior yr. Is this true? If so, how can I take a prep course if I haven't completed a yr of O Chem.? When's the best time to prepare for the MCAT?

thescholar: There isn't just one way to prepare for the MCAT or just one best time to take it. Try reading the thread on the MCAT--it's at the top of the pre-med topics list. I think you should have finished ochem before taking the prep class. The idea is to take the class right before you take the MCAT. There is also supposed to be an advantage to taking the MCAT soon after you finish ochem.

The MCAT system is sort of in flux right now because in 2007 they are going to all computer testing and to 22 different dates spread throughout the year instead of just two dates. You could take the prep class in the summer before junior year and then take the test in Aug. and still apply that fall.
