taking a semester off

<p>Alright, I'm trying to work out where I want to apply to transfer to and I am just not sure where I want to be/what I really want to do.</p>

<p>Right now, my plan is to finish out this year and focus on bringing up my GPA a bit. Then, assuming I am still unhappy at my school, take the fall semester off and apply to transfer then and then re-enter my new college as a first semester sophomore in Spring 2007.</p>

<p>How do schools view taking a semester off? My reasons for doing this would be to work and to try and figure out what direction I want my education (life?) to go in. I'd probably take a class, most likely foreign language, at the local community college and do some volunteering, as well.</p>

<p>my friend who did fairly well took off a year after hs. he didn't get accepted into the schools he wanted, and he decided to wait a year and reapply. he ended up working for a year, took like 2-3 classes at a cc, and got into berkeley.</p>
