Taking a W vs Taking a B

Hey guys,

So I was wondering how bad it would look if a took W in my Calc 3 class, im on track to get a B, but i’m afraid my application would look bad with only B’s in Calc 1,2, and 3. I’m applying to Cal, UCLA and Davis as a stats major for fall 2018. Also taking this W would knock me out of being a “full-time student” as im only taking 13 units this semester. The B’s in calc 1,2 are my only B’s and currently have a 3.63; on track to get A’s in other classes this semester. I know I would have to retake this class, but do you guys think it would be worth it? (would be 1st W on transcript)

Thanks

Depends, if you have time, then take a W and retake the class. However, the point is you should only do so if you know for sure that you will work hard af and get an A for the second time you take it, otherwise, dont waste your time. I dont know how you get the Bs in calc 1 and 2, if you got them because you just flunked out the finals, and you got a high B then I think you can possibly get an A in Calc 3. But if you got a low B, or you always got Bs for exams in those classes, I am sorry, but I doubt you will easily get an A for calc 3 because it is going to be a little more abstract than just calculating, and it requires you to have a solid base of derivatives and integrals. I think its not easy for you to get an A, but if you study damn hard, then you may make it. If you decide to drop it, i still suggest, if possible, keeping going to class and take notes to make sure you are familiar with the materials when you see them again in the second time.
