Taking a year off between college to volunteer/ study abroad

Does anyone know of a cheap program/ free scholarship to study/ volunteer abroad between college years (not a gap year between high school and college)?

Peace corps wants applicants to have a degree

Unless you are an adult with significant life’s experience, the Peace Corps is not an option. They do not take recent high school graduates. My daughter didn’t get her appointment until she sent them her final transcript indicating she had received her bachelors degree.

I’d also suggest Americorps/NCCC/CityYear.
Domestic not international, but excellent programs, you earn living stipend as well as an educational award and you will get more out of it than you put in.
