I am currently about to be a freshman at NYU and recently I was invited to take part in the advanced chemistry course. However, the advanced chemistry course is much more difficult than the general chemistry course and it also involves taking calc II, which I believe is not neccessary for med school. I was wondering if it would be better to take general chemistry and get a higher GPA or would colleges like me to take a higher ranked course and see me challenge myself.
I would say to definitely challenge yourself and work your best, because keep in mind that you want to make the best out of your time being at NYU and that their advanced course is advanced for a reason.
Of course if the workload is too great for you, then do not take it. Take into account what other classes/commitments you already have.
