Our school's AP Chem teacher is horrid, you'd have to be a lucky son of a gun to get an "A". The few who try it out drop the class.

So if I take HP Chem instead, how would the all knowing adcoms see it? AP and HP gives the same GPA boost of 5.0. HP just doesn't have the exam.

OMG, i was in the same situation last year; except i didn’t drop ap chem and it totally killed my gpa. x_____x truthfully, i really love chem and i ended up with a 4 (i give more credit to my own intellect >.<), but it was one of my biggest regrets ever! my gpa took a dip b/c of it even though i worked really hard, and now i’m afraid that i won’t be accepted to any top colleges since my gpa sucks. >.<

can u take ap bio or physics? what is HP? i’ll assume that it’s honors. just make sure your other classes are really strong

Haha, well I think colleges will let you explain a grade (from what I’ve read around here) in the application. But since you got a 4, shouldn’t your teacher have upped your grade? Or is that not how it rolls in your school.

Yeah HP is for honors, same GPA boost as an AP, just no exam.
