Taking AP and IB Bio HL

Is it a bad thing if I take AP and IB bio HL since they both cover very similar concepts?

Do you have the option to switch one of the classes?

Ya. AP bio is completely optional. I'm just really into bio, but 4 years of bio with IB bio and AP bio being alike I'm not sure if it would be good or not.

Have you also taken a year of Chemistry and Physics, or at least Envoronmental Science or something? I don't think it's a big problem if it's just an elective, but if you're taking four credits of science in high school, and they're all biology...then that would be an issue. Also, what would you be taking instead of AP bio, if you didn't take it?

If you are in the Diploma Programme, take Bio HL and something else instead of AP Bio. Chances are the credit for AP and HL tests will go to the same college course. Why not take something to give yourself more depth?

I woill have taken Chem bio and physics. Physics wasn't considered as physics credit cuz it was under the name research I/II, but it was basically a little harder or equal to physics honors. AP bio would be online. It wouldjust be a class to help me get prepared for IB bio since I'm not taking bio sophomore year. I will have at least 6 credits of science when I graduate. There will be no physics credit in my file since it was under another name. Is that bad? The only way I would be able to get a physics credit would be to not take a math class senior year and add in AP physics B. Back to my original issue, AP bio would be online and completely optional. Bio is just a class I'm so interested in!

Just take IB Bio because its slightly more in depth but basically the same IMO. Then you can take the AP bio exam as well. Typically kids at my school who have done this have done very well on the AP. Good Luck!

Well, it appears repetitive. In many ways, you should just take the IB if you're working towards the diploma. AP Biology and IB Biology are identical. However, if you are not doing the IB for anything, then do AP Biology because you are able to recieve a greater amount of credits.

don't take both...they are not the same...take IB Biology HL...AP is a much wider range of topics and many do not overlap with IB bio curriculum

Just drop all your science and math classes. They're unneccessary anyway.
