I was wondering, if you took an AP course over the summer, will you get the credit and the 5 point grade if you get an A in the class?

I know this freshmen who took Algebra 2 over the summer and did Pre Cal HP so he could get a 4.2 GPA and be ranked 1 of his class while everyone else did Algebra 2 and got a 4.0 GPA.

But what AP courses?

For ex. , theres AP Bio over the summer for 1000 bucks at ATDP I think.

Is there an AP Exam right after the course? Or do you have to wait till May...

And the grade boost? Will the 5.0 grade from the course by getting an "A" be added to your cumulative GPA? Or is there no credit at all?

Help out a distraught freshmen! Thanks CCers.

Whether or not you get credit/it’s weighted/listed on your transcript depends on your school. My school puts it on your transcript but doesn’t factor it into GPA.

You will have you wait until May for the exam, which is why I don’t understand taking AP classes over the summer.

Most competitive colleges want to see you take all of your core courses during the year. Also, you will only be able to sit for the AP exam in the spring.
