If I were to self study a subject or two this summer, would it be possible for me to take the exam for the courses at the begining of the school year in September? Or would I have to wait until May to take it?

as far as I know, all AP exams occur during the month of may.

^ That’s correct. May is the only time they are offered.

No 10char

Well that kind of sucks. I won’t have very much time during the school year. But during the summer, I have plenty of time to do what I want.

You could study during the summer anyways, and then refresh the material during the school year near ap time.

I was thinking about this. What do you guys think about taking an online psycology course this summer and then buying the barrons book for the exam in May? I’m taking AP US and regular biology next year, so I was thinking about self-studying AP US Government and AP Enviromental Science alongside those topics during the year. Do you think that would be too much?

Take a look at the prep books, I know Cliffnotes is usually good, I found it the best for AP Biology. See if you can learn it completely from the prep books, find some practice test (after you study) to see where you stand, and then go from there.
