I'm thinking of taking the Subject Tests for Chemistry and US History in May which is the weekend after the AP exams for those subjects. I know that I will also be taking the AP Calc AB exam. Do you recommend taking these tests in the same month or should I wait and take the subject tests in June? I know that I won't use any SAT subject test prep books, just AP exam prep books.

Hi! I plan to do the same thing, although with 2 AP tests and 1 SAT Subject test. If you don’t procrastinate at studying, I think it’ll be fine. Just know that SAT Subject tests are, in general, a lot more detail-oriented than AP tests, so only using AP prep books might not be enough to cover all the random questions (especially with US History.)

I would recommend it completely. I made the mistake of not taking this course of action and really regretted it my senior year when I had to try to restudy subjects, and ended up with scores I wasn’t pleased with.

If I could do it over again, I would have taken corresponding subject tests in May. If you feel you’ll commit time to doing practice subject tests, and don’t want more to worry about in May, then you might consider June. Though, again, in my opinion May is a good time.
