Taking AP Exams DURING college?

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if there's anything that won't work with taking an AP exam during college. I looked at my AP scores that they sent me and it has my high school listed, which sounds like it might be a problem, but otherwise I can't find anything that indicates I can't do this. For the record, I want to take the AP english exam to get out of UC Berkeley's R&C req.

Thanks.

You can take an AP exam at any time. You just have to pay for it, of course :).

I don’t know about taking an AP exam during college and whether or not it will help you get out of a course … ask your guidance counselor.

Check out CLEP exams too.

most schools don’t really look into it. All you have to do is take the exam, pass it with whatever score is required to get credit and send in the report to the transcript office and they will give you credit.

You have to get a school to proctor the test for you, though. That might be kind of hard if you are in college…

Why don’t you just take CLEP? It’s basically the college version of AP…

Just no…

I can just take it at some high school right? I know my high school had online signups for AP tests. Also I don’t think Berkeley takes CLEP for credit, at least it’s not mentioned anywhere.

can highschool students take CLEP?

^^
You have to sign up. Schools have a right to not give it to random people, also. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen places saying “AP exams taken before matriculation” for credit too. I’m sure it’s in the fine print somewhere at almost every school.

Also: this is a really, really stupid idea.

CLEP is what you would take in college if you wanted college credit.
