I'm deciding when to take AP GIL (German Italian Latin)....should I wait till senior year or do the one I am strongest in next year? I'm self-studying all three over the summer and until I take their APs...I am furthest along in German and Latin.

Also, for Latin should one take both Lit. and Vergil or just choose one?

wow, just wow. that is impressive. if you are ready for the test next year, by all means take it. i don't really have any knowledge about latin, but i think they cover different texts, so choose the one that is most interesting or easiest for you.

Thanks. I'm not doing this just for college. I'm visiting Italy and Germany next year, so I want to be able to speak those languages lol. (
Besides, if I get rejected from all my American college choices, I'll probably head for Germany or Italy) Latin is good for law and medical terms, and I want to do one of those two (most likely medicine), so Latin might come in handy there.

If you have the latin skills (reasonable ease of sight and memorized translation and a good grasp of most grammatical points and constructions...), it doesn't matter which latin you take. Virgil is easier to translate, but if you have the time it's certainly possible to take both tests. For me, translating almost 4000 lines and having their translations sort of memorized for the test would be too hard.

You also should have a wide body of vocabulary for the sight translations, something that largely comes from translating various texts. Have you been studying latin long?

I just started this february and moved at snail pace until2 weeks ago.By the end of the summer I'll be up to reading long passages.
