I wanted to take AP Gov at my school but I didn't meet the requirements. I also tried to take a placement test but I failed to qualify. If I decide to take it online and give an explanation to colleges, will they question why I chose to take the course online instead of at school?

No, and you shouldn’t talk about failing the placement exams for sure. I doupt theyll question why you wanted to take it online. Im taking it online so i can finish it faster, they might think thats why youre doing it online too

Don’t mention why at all–it isn’t necessary and there is nothing positive to say. Just make sure you do well on it. Since you failed the placement, it indicates you aren’t prepared. I’m afraid that a poor grade looks worse than not taking it. You can always take a similar class in college, if you are interested in the content.
