Taking AP Language as a self-study: tips?

I'm taking AP English Language as a self-study on Wednesday. It will be after all my other AP tests. My school doesn't offer language junior or senior year, and I'm decent at English, so I'm going to cram after enviro and try to score a 5.

I'm looking for tips. To give you a gauge of my English ability, I scored a 780 SAT CR and a 740 lit. I'm somewhat familiar with the common literary devices and terms. So, what should I study? I'll have about five - six hours.

bump :)

would love advice…I’m currently reading through PR and doing practice tests. do I need to know a lot of esoteric literary terms?

Last year my Honors English (we do not have AP English Lit or Lang junior year) class all took the AP Language exam. Everybody scored 4s and 5s. I got a 4 by studying literary terms the night before the test and reading through sample rubrics online. You should be fine.

It’s a lot similar to the SAT’s Critical Reading, except focused on certain literary terms (polysyndeton, metonymy, etc.) for some questions.

If you’re any decent at english, you should be able to score well.

^^ that’s awesome… i always score perfect on english/vocab/CR on Practice Sat tests from books and on the PLAN test, but i am weak at essays. however, next year do you think I can still get a 5 then since I will ace the MC?

The literary terms account for about 3/54 of the mc, so they aren’t a big deal. It’s basically critical reading from the SAT…
