Hey guys. I wanted to know if it's worth taking the AP Spanish language exam without taking Spanish in high school. I'm currently in AP French and will be taking that test. But, I'm a fluent Spanish speaker. My family is from Mexico, so Spanish is my first language and is all my parents speak, so I constantly translate for them when we go out. I also took bilingual classes throughout elementary school. Honestly, I'm just a little rusty on spelling. My French teacher is Mexican and speaks Spanish as well, and she says it's worth a shot. Should I go for it?

Sure, go for it. I took the AP Italian test without having taken the course in HS and got a 5. It probably will not help in admissions, however.

there’s really no point. It won’t help you in admissions and you likely won’t get credit from universities for two languages, at least not meaningful ones (unless you’re majoring in something that requires multiple foreign languages). They might count towards total credits for graduation, but won’t fulfill any requirements,

At least I could skip to a cool Spanish Literature class if I wanted to. It’s also a good back up plan for if I do poorly in the French exam.
