Taking Art Classes?

I am absolutely enamored by NYU & the city around it - but there is one potentially fatal flaw: the lack of a design program. I understand there is studio art and the highly prestigious Tisch, but as an undergraduate, there doesn't seem a program for graphic design/communication design.

But I so desperately want to go to NYU: so I want to know how easy it is to find graphic design classes outside of the university? And more importantly, how practical is it to take ongoing classes during the school year and such? Would it be possible to take classes at FIT, Parsons, etc? I've done some searching on the FIT/Parsons/Pratt websites, but I couldn't really find anything regarding classes for high school graduates...

Thank you so much for the time :)

why would you want to pay 54k/yr @ NYU when they don’t even have your major?

i would just go to FIT and pay much much much (much) less.

but i think you would have to check with NYU & either FIT/Parsons/Pratt to see if this is allowed.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Well, I don’t want to go to an art school for a couple of reasons: I am not entirely sure I want to limit myself to just art for four years, and my parents would never let me. I’m interested in a whole host of other subjects, so I’d rather go to a school with more options.

you might be able to take art courses if you enroll in Gallatin at NYU
