Taking BC jr year - will I be prepared to take both BC and AB AP tests

I'm in Precalculus as a soph. Advised by my teacher to skip Calc AB course and take Calc BC course next year.

My question is, will that prepare me to take both of the Caculus AP tests - AB and BC?

I'm trying to work-in 8 AP tests before I apply to college. I assume each would count towards CB's National AP Scholar award.

You can’t take both Calculus APs in the same year. There wouldn’t be any point in doing that anyway if you are ready for Calculus BC. The AP Calculus BC exam does have a Calculus AB subscore, although that subscore doesn’t count for scholar awards. I’m sure you can find 8 AP exams to take by the time you graduate.

Goodness! Guess that means I won’t be taking the AB exam at all - do they let you take AB the year after you’ve taken BC?

Why would you want to? The BC test gives you an AB subscore. That mean you can get college credit for both BC and AB. There’d be no reason to take AB after BC.

Besides the fact that taking AB after BC is a waste of time, I doubt your school would even let you take AB after BC. You should either do AB one year and BC the next or just do BC and find another AP class to take.
