Taking Calculus II at Community College for Summer

I'm a freshman at UT @ Austin and just finished taking Calculus I. I was wondering if any future medical school I applied to, would look down on me for taking Calculus II at the local community college in my hometown for the summer? I'm a biology major if that helps.

Why are you even taking Calculus II? You would be better served by taking Stats as many of the schools that require a year of Math will accept Stats and some schools are making it a requirement (see Harvard and some Texas MS’s) in addition to, or in place of Calculus. See list below:

I’m not an expert here, but I seriously doubt it would be a problem. Especially since med schools only require through Calculus 1.

I’m assuming you are taking this class as a pre-req to other classes in your major? And taking the class in the summer will help to keep you on track for future course registration? My D. is pre-med, but majoring in bio-chemistry and she had to take math up through multivariable calculus and linear algebra. So for her it would have made sense to take Calc 2 in the summer.

I don’t think two semesters are required for Bio majors, at least it wasn’t for my son. He only needed one semester of upper level math.

Regardless of whether or not you need to take calc ii, the answer to whether you should take it at a community college instead of your undergrad is: [The Office- Michael Scott No God No - YouTube](<a href=“The Office- Michael Scott No God No - YouTube”>The Office- Michael Scott No God No - YouTube)

Med school’s will 100% look down on it.

@ Brown ^^^^ totally LMAO at your [YouTube] answer

It’s actually a double negative: 1) not good to take premed prereqs over the summer; 2) not good to take premed prereqs at a much lower college that the one you regularly attend. And it will be strike three if you do take it and earn anything less than an A.
