Taking CC courses while going to UCLA

Hi guys!
I’m in a bit of a predicament here… I’m currently a 4th year psychology major at UCLA trying to get into med school. I’ve taken about 90% of the med school requirements needed but will hit ucla’s unit cap of 216 before fulfilling my psych major & med school requirements. I wanted to know if I could take 2 courses at a community college (physics 6b & chem 14D) while taking classes at ucla? The reason I’m asking is because I’m not trying to transfer the courses to fulfill my psych major requirements at ucla but it’s to fulfill med school pre-req’s.

Yes, you can do concurrent enrollment. But I’m pretty sure the school wants you to report that you are taking CC courses. Ask them. I’d doubt they won’t let you, since the courses you are taking aren’t for transferring credits to UCLA.

Why not do a post-bacc? It’d be a GPA killer taking courses at CC while you are at UCLA.
Unless you have a less-busy schedule :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, if you have money, do UCLA Extension. They will let you take courses during summer and other terms via Extension without regards to your units or how close you are to the unit ceiling.
CC courses are alright, but you’d be more familiar with UCLA than CC. Plus, 14 series is life-science only.
The process of clearing out your pre-requisite at CC might be complicated. 14D is Orgo 2 I believe.

Also, you need BioChem too, Chem154 A and L (iirc).
So, it’s safe to say you should spend another year at UCLA or CC and prepare for MCAT.
